HKETCO participates at 2016 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Taoyuan (21 February 2016)
On 21 February to 6 March, the Hong Kong Economic, Trade and Cultural Office (HKETCO) participated for the third time in the Taiwan Lantern Festival, the largest of its kind in Taiwan. This year’s Taiwan Lantern Festival was held in Taoyuan City. The Hong Kong lantern area there carried the theme of "Trendy. Splendid. Hong Kong Welcomes You". It featured at its entrance a 6m-tall flying dragon, leading the visitors to appreciate the trendiest sides and the rich and diverse characteristics of Hong Kong.
A lighting ceremony of the Hong Kong lantern area was held on 21 February. The Chairperson of the Hong Kong-Taiwan Economic and Cultural Co-operation and Promotion Council, Mr David Lie; the Director of HKETCO, Mr Rex Chang; the Director (Taiwan) of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Ms Winnie Shyu; the Chairman of the Hong Kong Business Association in Taiwan, Mr Richard Shen; and the Chairman of the Hong Kong Club of Taipei, Mr Oliver Mok, officiated at the ceremony.
